A-10A Thunderbolt II 20th Fighter Sqn Assam Draggins, Osan, Dec. 2005

HA1310

During WWII the 25th FS was stationed in Dinjan, in the district of Assam India. This is where they received the name “Assam Draggins”. Instead of the shark mouth other squadrons used the Draggins had the leering mouth and two large fangs of a mythical dragon. During the Korean War the 51st FW adopted a checker design for the tails of its aircraft and the “Draggins” became the “Checkertails”. The 25th spent time in Vietnam and in Japan ending up on Osan AB Republic of China.
