The RF-5E Tiger Eye was a dedicated reconnaissance version of the F-5E Tiger II. Northrop had hoped to sell 100 or more RF-5Es “Tiger Eyes: but in reality only sold very few with Malaysia being the customer with 2 ordered. The only other customer was Saudi Arabia who purchased 10. The RMAF serials were M29-19 80-333 c/n RA 1001 and M29-20 80-334 c/n RA1002. The RF-5E was an improvement of the RF-5A by adding better cameras as well as having the performance of the F-5E.
