McDonnell F-101B c/n 631 serial 58-0259 was built in 1958 at their St. Louis Missouri facility. 58-0259 was one of 401 F-101Bs produced between 1957 and 1961. The base was used to train interceptor pilots for the Air Defense Command duties. Since the base was so close to Cuba that during and after the Cuban Missile Crisis F-101s and F-102s were on constant alert ready to intercept any unknown aircraft. The last F-101 Voodoo in U.S. service was retired on September 21, 1982.
