On July 1, 1960, the 133rd Fighter Group of the Minnesota ANG was re-designated the 148th Fighter Group and replaced their F-102 Delta Dagger with the McDonnell F-101 Voodoo. They flew the Voodoo from 1971 until January 1976 when the unit role was changed. The 148th FG became the 148th Tactical Reconnaissance Group and re-equipped with RF-4Cs from 1976 until 1983 and then the F-4D until 1990. 1990 saw the introduction of the F-16 Fighting Falcon and it still is in use.
