The Oregon ANG 123rd FIS/ 142nd FW was formed on July 30, 1940 as the 123rd Observation Squadron and allocated to the Oregon Air National Guard. On April 18, 1941 the unit was activated and was operational throughout WWII and the Korean War. On November 1, 1952 was released from active duty and returned to the ORANG. In 1972 the 142nd FW began to receive the F-101B Voodoo and operated them until 1981 when 58-0339 was sent to AMARC then preserved at Hill AFB, Utah for a short time before being scrapped in 1987.
