In September 1956 F-86F Sabre 55-3982 was transferred to Spain as C.5-98 and eventually was assigned to the 61 Squadron/6th Fighter Wing. The 6th FW used the “Fierce Cat” as their emblem and it was placed below the cockpit on the right side of the fuselage. In March 1967 C.5-98 was struck off charge and was placed on a pedestal at Torrejon AB. The aircraft is marked as C.5-82 but in fact really is C.5-98 and the “Fierce Cat” is mistakenly displayed on both sides of the fuselage.
