“Operation Inherent Resolve” began in Syria and Iraq on August 8, 2014 with the objective of military intervention to eliminate the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIL) (Daesh). VFA-103 “Jolly Rogers” was deployed onboard the USS Harry S. Truman CVW-7 from November 2015 until July 2016 in support of “OIR”. During their time there VFA-103 launched 490 Precision Guided Missiles (PGM) making them the most lethal squadron in CVW-7. As of August 2017 the Coalition of 12 countries completed 24,566 strikes in support of “OIR”.
