Four Su-35 Flanker E’s from the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association (KnAAPO) plant in Russia arrived at the PLAAF Cangzhou-Cangxian Flight Test and Training Center on Christmas Day 2016. The FTTC is responsible for developing flying procedures, combat techniques and training programs for new aircraft. The Su-35s eventually will be based at Suixi AB with the 6th Brigade, former 6th Air Regiment, 2nd Division and with the PLAAF Su-35 capability of airborne refuelling they should be able to provide long-range fighter-escort for the Xian H-6K bombers around the South China Sea.
