In September 2012 No. 1 (F) Squadron reformed at RAF Leuchars and equipped with the new Eurofighter Typhoon. In September 2014 the squadron moved operations to RAF Lossiemouth to join No. 6 Squadron, XV (R) Squadron, “D” Flight, No. 202 Squadron (SAR) and No. 5 Force Protection Wing. No. 1 (F) Squadron has the distinction of being the first fly VTOL aircraft. In July 2020 the main runway at RAF Lossiemouth was being resurfaced so the Typhoons were to move to Kinloss Barracks and the QRA jets to deploy to Leuchars.
