The 10th Panzer Division was formed in Prague in March 1939 as part of Army Group North. The 10th PD later fought in the battle of France, Siege of Calais, Operation Barbarossa and the Battle of Tunisia. After Operation Torch in 1942 the division was sent to Tunisia arriving in December as part of the 5th Panzer Army. Over the next several months the 10th Panzer Division battled the British and Americans. At first the Germans inflicted heavy losses but eventually the tide turned forcing the German surrender on May12, 1943.
