The 11th Panzer Division was formed on August 1st, 1940. In February 1941 the 11 Pz.Div. was making its way through Romania and in March they moved into Bulgaria. Their first real action came in April 1941 in Yugoslavia when they helped in the capture of Belgrade. The division participated in the Battle of Kiev from July (according to Soviet records) until September 26, 1941. They took part in the March to Moscow from late 1941 into early 1942. The last member of the 11th Pz.Div. was captured May 4, 1945.
