In 1955 the Soviet 39th Army 7th Mechanized Division left Manchuria after ten years of occupation leaving behind their tanks. The 190th Division of the PLA was ordered to gather all the equipment left behind. Among the equipment were 137 T-34/85 along with a few T-54s, 22 IS-2 Heavy Tanks, 24 SU-100, 67 ISU-152, 23 armored vehicles, 110 artillery pieces and 878 motor vehicles. The newly formed 1st Mechanical Division received 45 of the ISU-152. Two examples of the ISU-152 TD are on display at the CPLA Museum in Beijing.
