The scheduled launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour OV-105 was December 3, 1998 was scrubbed but one day later the shuttle launched successfully. On board was the Unity connecting module known as Node 1. This unit was connected to the first module called Zarya that had been placed in orbit earlier by a Russian rocket. There eventually would be two more modules called Harmony and Tranquility added to Node 1 to complete the ISS build. On December 15 the crew of six landed completing the first trip to the ISS.
